Gage

Gage was born on June 21, 2004. He came into our lives about two months later and took over our hearts. He was a black lab mix. He really liked to chew on things and adored people. He would wag his tail so hard when he saw somebody you thought it would fall off. He loved to play fetch except he sure didn't like to give anything back after he got it! Gage was a better friend than anybody ever deserved or could hope for.

Gage was killed by an angry man on March 6, 2005 when he somehow got out of his pen when we were away and got into the neighbors chickens. The man shot him and he ran towards home. He almost made it to our yard when his little legs could take him no further.

Losing Gage is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. Even though we only had him for 6 1/2 months, he was my best friend and constant companion. He was always there to play or to sleep with me, or to chew on my hands, or to eat things he shouldn't.

He was loved by all the neighbors and my family, and also by all the other dogs in the neighborhood. The other dogs keep coming over to play with him, but he is not here. I know they miss him as much as I do.

It sure is hard coming home and not having him be here. I just hope he knows how much we love him and miss him. Our lives will not ever be the same without him with us.

Gage, I love you so much and will always hold you in my heart, if I can't hold you in my arms. Don't worry Gager boy, I can't wait for the day until we can see each other again. Then we will play and play! Until then, have fun with the other dogs, eat until your little heart is content, and wait for me! We will always think of you and remember all the good times we had.

I am sorry that your life had to be cut so short. You deserved many more years with us. Those years will not be as happy as they would have been if you were here. I am so sorry.

Mommy and I love you with all our hearts, and miss you so much it hurts. But someday we will be with each other again. We look forward to the day.

With our forever love and sadness, yet with happiness for the joy you brought to our lives, thank you Gage. We love you.

Love, Mommy and Daddy
