Sunny & Aussie
In Memory of Sunny & Aussie Butterworth.
Sunny: 1991 to 6 September 2005.
On 15 Nov 1992 we went to the lost dog's home in North Melbourne and picked out Sunny. He was a 12-months old Jack Russell cross. It was a sunny Sunday morning as we drove home with him and we were trying to think of a name for him. Because the day was sunny and he seemed such a bright dog he was given the name Sunny. He tried to be the “boss of the house” but soon got he knows his place. He was always a good friend.
Tuesday, 6 September 2005 - Sunny put to sleep this afternoon. He was having trouble
breathing; he was coughing and couldn't get his breath back. His heart & kidney's were
failing and his body was starting to “shut-down” so we felt the kindest thing to do for him was to let the vet put him to sleep.
Aussie: 1997 to 23 November 2001.
In May 1998 we obtained a 12-months old Australian terrier from the RSPCA. She bit Sunny on the ear on the 2nd day that we had her and became the “Boss Dog” for awhile but within 6-months Sunny was starting to take control. At first Sunny was a bit put out with her coming into “his house” but they did become mates and eventually decided to sleep in the same basket.
On Sunday, 3 June 2001 Sunny, Aussie and I were returning home from a walk when we were attacked by an American Pit Bull Terrier. Aussie was badly injured, Sunny ran away and it took us over a day to find him only to find he too was seriously injured. Both dogs spent a number of days in intensive care at the vet.
Aussie never really recovered and we had to let the vet put her to sleep on 23 November 2001.
