I am writing for my mothers dog, Friska who passed away 1 1/2 years ago.
Friska meant so much to my mother and they had quite a history, my sister was the one who brought her home and she drove my mother crazy!!!! We lived behind a Junior High field and she would get loose and run through that field like a rabbit! She would terrorize the neighborhood! My mother and Friska became best friends over the years, Friska would even bark at me if i tried to go in my moms room! She was my mothers fearless protector!
I work as a Veterinary Technician and had the pain and strange honor of being there with my mother and Friska at the time of
the euthanasia, Friska was so lucky to have the Veterinarian that she did (Dr. Alan)... He knew the night prior that Friska would need
to be put out of her pain the next day, so he came in the hospital in the middle of the night and took her outside and
just sat with her so that she could "Smell the night air" The next day, he sat and talked to my mother for an hour until she was confident that this was a decision of love.
This wonderful act of kindness made a heartbreaking time a little easier knowing that she was cared for in such a way.
This Veterinarian himself began battling cancer just a few short weeks after this, and is still fighting!
I know he has many furry angels watching over him.
I just wanted to write a follow up regarding the Veterinarian who cared for Frsika.
He lost his very courageous battle with cancer on November 29th. He was at home, surrounded by his family and his animals.
I know that there were many animals waiting for him on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, Friska included!
He will be missed and I am a very lucky woman to have met and worked with him, he changed my life.
